Overview
Discover our Cold-Rolled Steel Precision Tubes, engineered to ASTM A513 Type 2 standards in grades 1010, 1015, 1020, and 1026 with a Drawn Over Mandrel (DOM) finish. Available in sizes from 0.5” to 12” outer diameter (OD) and 0.035” to 0.5” wall thickness (WT), including the popular 1” OD x 0.065” WT, these tubes offer superior dimensional accuracy, smooth surface finish, and excellent mechanical properties. Ideal for automotive components, hydraulic cylinders, and conveyor rollers, our tubes deliver precision and durability across industries.

Manufacturing Process
Our ASTM A513 Type 2 precision tubes are produced through a meticulous cold-rolling and DOM process, ensuring high quality and precision:
1. Electric Resistance Welding (ERW): Steel strips are cold-formed and welded to create a continuous tube, ensuring a strong base material.
2. Cold Rolling: Tubes are cold-rolled to refine dimensions and improve surface quality.
3. Drawn Over Mandrel (DOM): Tubes are drawn over a mandrel and through a die to achieve precise dimensions (e.g., 1” OD x 0.065” WT), enhanced strength, and a smooth, seamless-like finish.
4. Heat Treatment: Tubes may be normalized or stress-relieved to optimize mechanical properties and ensure uniform microstructure.
5. Surface Finishing: Tubes are finished with a smooth, clean surface, often oiled or phosphated for corrosion resistance.
6. Quality Testing: Rigorous inspections, including dimensional checks, tensile testing, and surface quality assessments, ensure compliance with ASTM A513 standards.
The DOM process delivers tubes with tight tolerances, improved strength, and a superior surface finish compared to standard ERW tubes, making them ideal for precision applications.

Delivery Conditions

·Drawn Over Mandrel (DOM): The primary condition for ASTM A513 Type 2, where tubes are cold-drawn over a mandrel to achieve tight tolerances, high strength, and a smooth finish. Ideal for automotive components, cylinders, and rollers requiring precision and durability.
·As-Welded (AW): Tubes are welded and supplied without further cold-working, offering lower cost but less precision and strength compared to DOM. Suitable for less demanding applications.
·Sink-Drawn (SD): Tubes are cold-drawn through a die without a mandrel, providing improved surface finish and moderate strength, suitable for applications requiring less stringent tolerances than DOM.
·Normalized (+N): Tubes are heat-treated to normalize the microstructure, improving ductility and uniformity for applications like bending or forming in automotive or structural components.
·Stress-Relieved (+SR): Tubes are heat-treated after cold-working to relieve internal stresses, enhancing formability for complex fabrication processes.

Grade Descriptions

·1010 (ASTM A513): A low-carbon steel with excellent weldability and formability, ideal for lightweight automotive components and general mechanical fabrication, such as conveyor rollers.
·1015 (ASTM A513): A low-carbon steel with slightly higher strength than 1010, suitable for automotive parts and cylinders requiring moderate strength and good weldability.
·1020 (ASTM A513): A versatile low-carbon steel with excellent machinability and weldability, ideal for automotive components, hydraulic cylinders, and conveyor rollers.
·1026 (ASTM A513): A higher-carbon steel with superior strength and toughness, perfect for high-stress applications like heavy-duty hydraulic cylinders or robust conveyor rollers.
